Deprecating OpenTracing compatibility requirements


Summary

The OpenTelemetry Specification has deprecated OpenTracing compatibility requirements to align with the industry's shift toward native OpenTelemetry APIs and OTLP-based workflows. While existing shims may remain for backwards compatibility during the deprecation period, new implementations are no longer required to support OpenTracing. Consequently, users currently relying on OpenTracing shims are encouraged to begin planning their migration to native OpenTelemetry SDKs and APIs.
