SSL/TLS Certificate Lifetimes to Reduce to 47 Days

The CA/Browser Forum is significantly reducing the lifespan of SSL/TLS certificates to improve security and mitigate risks associated with compromised keys or outdated standards. Starting March 15, 2026, and phasing in over four years, certificate lifespans will decrease from 398 days to just 47 days by 2029, requiring organizations to automate their certificate monitoring and renewal processes. This change also includes a reduction in the period for which domain control validation (DCV) is accepted, further emphasizing the need for proactive and automated certificate lifecycle management.
