Interview with DigitalOcean

DigitalOcean transitioned from Graphite/OpenTSDB to Prometheus due to difficulties managing OpenTSDB’s scalability and frustrations with its query language and visualization tools. They successfully migrated by running Prometheus alongside their existing Collectd setup, creating custom exporters, and eventually decommissioning OpenTSDB, leading to improved insights, easier metric creation, and faster alerting. DigitalOcean is now focused on making Prometheus even more accessible for all teams through automation and long-term storage solutions like Vulcan, while preserving the benefits of the Prometheus Query Language.
