Interview with L’Atelier Animation

L’Atelier Animation, a 3D animation studio, transitioned from a complex monitoring system using Nagios, Graphite, and InfluxDB to Prometheus to better monitor their large infrastructure of render blades and workstations. They found Prometheus, particularly Node Exporter and SNMP support, simpler to manage and more customizable, allowing them to track critical metrics like CPU usage and temperature, and even build a custom floor map displaying workstation data. The studio plans to further integrate Prometheus with software license tracking and continue expanding its use based on artist needs.
