Our commitment to OpenTelemetry

Prometheus is deeply committing to OpenTelemetry (OTel) as the future of observability, aiming to become the default storage for OTel metrics. They are actively working on bidirectional compatibility between Prometheus and OTel, including stable OTLP ingestion, UTF-8 support, and better handling of resource attributes. Prometheus 3.0, planned for 2024, will feature significant OTel support, and the project is actively seeking community contributions to help implement these changes and ensure a smooth upgrade path for existing users.
