This update follows a significant platform rebuild using a columnar storage engine that improves storage efficiency by up to 2.5x and drastically reduces query latency. These changes allow Elastic to offer substantial cost savings—over 50% compared to competitors like Datadog—by billing based on data volume rather than per-host or custom-metric fees.
